Does DNN 4.9 have an automatic backup feature?  And if it does how does one turn it off?  We have a dnn server that is running out of space because of a back that is occuring every night and no one knows what the back up is.  It says website in the name so I'm thinking it's DNN but we had a consultant that upgraded our DNN and I think he may have set an auto back up feature.  We don't need to back up the database separately because the server is already set to be backed up every night with our regular back up runs.

Thanks for any information on the issue.

Carolyn

DNN doesn't have any built in backup features itself, though I believe there are some tools that you can plugin to perform backups.

Likely it is that your Database is being backed up on a scheduled basis by the SQL Server itself. Are the files that you are seeing .BAK files? If so that is the case. You can configure SQL Server to automatically delete old backups, for a set period of time, if you want them to at least continue to backup, but you don't need to store every backup ever made.

Thank you that's what I needed to know.  There are two files .bak and .trn (SQL log files).  We have our SQL server on our back up routine and don't need the it to be creating separate back ups.  Do you know where the settings are for turning off the automated backup?

Thanks,

Carolyn

It could be setup in a couple of ways but there is likely a maintenance plan that is setup and running the backups on SQL Server. You would want to modify or simply remove that maintenance plan.

Thank you.  I'll work with our system administrator and see if we can figure out what is going on.  I appreciate the time and help you have given.
