I have a new Windows 7 machine. I have a space for a 20MB web site hosted by my Internet Service provider. I want to try DNN to build a web site on this Internet Service Provider (GCI.net) site. I am confused about installing DNN software. Since my computer is not the actual server, would I still install DNN on my computer or do I work with My Internet Service Provider to install it on their server... I don't know that they would do that?

Can I establish a server environment on my Windows 7 machine by installing the requisite software (IIS 7, ASP.NET, SQL, etc.) or should I just work with my ISP host? Sorry to be dense, but I have not seen this addressed in all of the "getting started" materials.

Stephenie, in order to run your web site, DotNetNuke needs to run on the Web Server. You need Windows web hosting (DotNetNuke does NOT run on Linux) with ASP.Net 3.5 and a MS SQL database or the option to install free SQL Server Express. If those prerequisites are provided, either CGI.Net installs DNN for your or you need to upload all files and set up the web site on the server yourself.
