Using DNN 4.9.5 I've setup a Parent Portal along the lines of http://dev.mysite.com/  but also a separate child portal with aliases of http://dev.mysite.com/childportal1 and http://dev.mysite.com/childportal2.

The http://dev.mysite.com/childportal1  works fine and first shows as http://dev.mysite.com/Default.aspx?alias=dev.mysite.com/childportal1 and shows the child portal but http://dev.mysite.com/childportal2 shows a Page Not Found error.  http://dev.mysite.com/Default.aspx?alias=dev.mysite.com/childportal2 does work though!

Also then when clicking on Home in the menu it loads up both child portals correctly as http://dev.mysite.com/childportal1/Home/tabid/2909/Default.aspx and http://dev.mysite.com/childportal2/Home/tabid/2909/Default.aspx.

Why wouldn't the second child portal alias work as expected?

Finally the last issue is when logging out. It takes out the child portal name completely though still shows as the child portal loading (but parent portal web address) - http://dev.mysite.com/Home/tabid/2909/Default.aspx

Is this normal behaviour?  How can independent Child Portals run completely independent as this seems to bring them one step too close?

Thanks

David

When child portal has been created, new folder in your site root has been created with name of your child portal(i.e /childportal1). Your first issue looks like the folder for the second child portal hadn't been created. This folder should contain Default.aspx file which call Response.Redirect.

That's great, thanks Tanya!

I hadn't realised the folder was created and you're right - other folders aren't being created but at least I now know what has to be done!

There still seems to be significant issues with the use of Child Portals.

When I click on another page in the menu the Child Portal folder is lost. Shouldn't this still be retained as a part of the full Portal alias?
