I have a site with Registration set to "None" in Site Settings.  But all of a sudden today we are getting dozens of new user registration emails coming to the Admin that look something like below.  The email is different on each one, so I think someone is spamming through it!  How is this possible??  DNN Version is 05.02.02 (73)

More on this: a user record is not being created in DNN, however, the DNN New User Registration email is getting triggered somehow. I had to blank the SMTP server field to stop the email attack. Note: The 2 fields at the bottom of that email example were added in by me to try to capture more info. Aside from those it is the default notification email in Admin/Languages.

This is happening to me.  Any thoughts?  Anyone.  I do not believe removing the SMTP mail server will work for me, b/c I have legit stuff flowing through too.  Like sales.

They might call the registration form using ?ctl=register, old versions of DNN might not check permission properly prior to displaying the control.
I suggest upgrading to a more recent version (current is 7.2.2)

what version are you running? Versions prior to 5.6.3 did not have enableeventvalidation set to true by default, so in theory administration functions could be triggered by non-authenticated users. We never saw any evidence of this and it was fixed in 5.6.3 (http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/...), but perhaps some spam code is targeting older releases
