Fellow DNN'ers,
I have a site which is set to "None" for registration and I load accounts programmatically.  When I go to the ADMIN page and go to User Accounts, find an account and click "Manage Password" I can click the link that says, "Reset Password"  The results are that the system produces a message stating, "Password reset".  First, what does it reset the password to?  Next, why will my users not receive an email with the reset password?

There are no errors on the Event viewer after the password is reset, such as an SMTP error or anything.  Just don't get any indication about what the password was reset to nor that there was a notification email sent out.

I am using standard ASP membership.  What I'm after is having the system send out an email with something like "Click here to change your password" or something like that.

Also, when a user clicks on the "Forgot Password" link and they enter their correct username, the system says something to the effect that their password will be emailed to them.  The Event Viewer shows that the email was sent, but in reality NO ONE is getting these emails.

At first I thought it was my SMTP server, but I get all test emails when I run the SMTP configuration test.

Any help would be appreciated.

Who is your smtp host? Something local? Is this a shared server or something you have admin access to?

This is my own server, I'm not on shared hosts.

Then I suppose you have access to the smtp logs? You should be able to see the outbound connections from the DNN server. What do they say?

Oh shnikeys!  Ahh.. I hate that.  It appears that when you create a new portal and have to enter a new administrative user, that user is the account which is used to send out the notification messages, password reset, etc..  I mistyped that email address (it ended up being an invalid FROM email address)

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
