I'm running DNN 5.6 and have been spending a little time looking at the event viewer.  I can see events going back a couple of months, but the specific events I'm looking at 'Application Started' seems to be erased much more frequently.  Events from 10 hours ago are no longer in the log.
I don't see any entry in the scheduler for event log purge or anyway to configure it. So:-

Are General Admin Operation events cleared on a different basis to others? I have many other event types that stretch back to september.

Can I configure a schedule purge of the event log and how?

The only event log option I see is Enable Event Log Buffer? which is not selected.

Thanks

events are logged per type, if enabled. in Event Viewer enter "edit types" to configure, which events to log. Clear event log will delete depending on the age of events, if working. There is a scheduled job in Host ::Scheduler, but from my experience, it fails when needed, i.e. if the eventlog has too many entries due to inefficient indexes / delete strategy (which hasn't changed since DNN 1 AFAIK).

Thanks Sebastian, I'd been looking at the log in view mode and hadn't seen the Edit Log Settings option - it all becomes a lot clearer now!!
