I'm using DNN Community 04.09.04.

We have a portal on our staging environment and it's ready to go live.
So i used the export portal template and it was successful.

But when I import it on our live server, I'm receiving a timeout issue at around the 90sec mark.
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerTimeoutException. The server request timed out.
I think this has something to do with the IIS timeout? I've done it on several machines and locations already but I always get this error.

I've searched for solutions on the internet but can't seem to find a definite one.

Hope you could help me with this one. Thanks.

Cheers,
Jan

AFAIR there had been issues with portal templates in 4.9.4 (and maybe even 4.9.5). I suggest moving the site by transferring all files and the database, according to the pinned post in Installation forum here.

Hi Sebastian,

What pinned post in the installation forum are you referring to?
On the Installing DotNetNuke forum, there are only 2 pinned posts: 1. DNN Starter kit in Visual Studio 2008 and 2.  FAQ: moving a DNN installation.

There are no steps in FAQ: moving a DNN installation and it doesn't mention anything regarding moving files and databases for moving portals. Actually it's not informative.

I've seen your other post to this question also mentioning transfer of files. By transferring all files, do you mean just transferring the Portal folder? And for the database how would I be able to transfer only the data related to the portal I want to migrate? And after I transfer the files, how would I create the portal now based from those files?

By the way, we have multiple portals on the staging/production site already. This is a new one so it's still on the staging site and I just have to move this single portal to the production environment.

jan, in the first line of the FAQ post, there is a link to a Blog post: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryId/1293/HOW-TO-Move-a-DotNetNuke-installation.aspx which should be of help for your ;)

Hi Sebastian,

If I'm not mistaken the "FAQ: Moving a DNN installation" referts to moving the whole DNN site and not just the DNN portal. Would this be correct?
I was looking for a portal migration and not the moving the whole DNN installation.

So this is what I think of right now because there's no concrete procedure on moving portals:
1. Copy the whole DNN site from staging to production.
2. Copy the whole DNN database from staging to production.

Does this mean that I need to create a new live DNN site with just that staging portal running on it? For me to be able to move this single portal, I need to transfer the whole site and just publish this portal? If this is the best way, then I guess I have no choice but to do it.

Please correct if my assumptions are correct.

Thanks.
