Hi there,
I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this issue, or if you can shed some light on it.
We have an instance of DNN running multiple portals. What's happening is Google has somehow got it's index cross-wired, and is showing the details of Portal A and B under Portal C's domain name. This is best explained by example:
Three portals on the same DNN install, www.jobswithsalt.com and www.florensa.co.nz and oneforthegirls.org.nz
When searching for 'Florensa' the website summary shown on the Google results page is correct for all pages EXCEPT the homepage:
http://www.google.co.nz/#q=florensa&a...
you will see that the homepage is at the bottom. Normally we SEO the homepage but this client was adamant that they wanted a splash page with nothing on it. they went against our advise for an SEO'd homepage - so please don't judge us on that!
when searching for 'florensa.co.nz' you will see that the top is oneforthegirls, then florensa.co.nz - but the HTML Title and Description showing under Florensa.co.nz is actually that from jobswithsalt.com !!
BUT when you click on florensa.co.nz you do see the florensa site, which has title and keywords relating to florensa!
look:
http://www.google.co.nz/#sclient=psy&...
This is madness!
What the hell is going on here? Is this a bug with Googles index, or DNN? I suspect DNN is serving up the wrong content to Googlebot, but not sure.
Can anyone explain this?
Many thanks
Tim
