Hello,

I'm a fairly new user to DNN, and this is one of the first web sites I'm creating but I've run into little quarks so to speak. I don't have a lot of money to spend buying modules that may or may not do what I need it to do. Any help in the following would be greatly appreicated.

Here is what I want to do, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it easily and quickly. I'm on DNN 5.6.0
I want to create a side menu. That's it. I can't see seem to find a module or the like that gets it done. I've resorted to hard coding HTML in a TEXT/HTML module and working from there (the code is getting and ugly), but after a 100 or so web pages this is just pains takingly long.

An example of what I want would be...you have a website with three parent pages Home, Support, Products

If you're at  >Home it would look like this

Home

Child 1
   Child 2
Support
Products

And if you were at Support>Child 1 it would like like this

Home
Support
   Child 1
   Child 2
Products

Thanks,

Dean

Hi Dean,

There are a number of options you may like to explore.

http://www.inventua.com/sidemenu-over...  has a side menu module that can also be used as a skin object.
Its free to try - and will do what you need - and is pretty customisable with skin extensions.

Alternatively, the dnn menu provider can also be changed to render a vertical menu.  Here is a tutorial on how to do  it with solpart menu

The DNN Skinning guide also have some tips - but its a bit ugly reading.

Thanks ot the both of you,

Found something like I was looking for. It's definately getting the job done A LOT faster than before. And I don't have to hard code anything. Life is pretty sweet.

If only I could figure out a way to apply ot all current and any new pages that may or may not be created...

Thanks again,

Dean

Hey Dean,

Most menu modules can also be used a SKIN OBJECTS - that is - like the standard NAV component that is defined in the SKIN.
This is the case for the inventa module and also for the vertical version of the module.

To get the side menu on every page all you should need to do is change your SKIN to include the sidemenu and it will appear on every page.
You would then of course need to delete the menu you created by hand on those pages where it appears.
