I have a DNN website that I want to make a secondary parent portal.  It is of course at portal 0.  I need a parent website that a user logs into first and then if they have permissions can link over to the secondary website.  I  will have other sites that they will go to as well, thus other secondary parent sites.

What steps do I need to make, first to the website in general to add the parent site?  How can I access these separate sites using the IP address or localhost while developing?

what version are you running? 5.6.1 introduced some additional portal alias options as well as the ability to switch portals from a child to a parent portal. Note: parent portals require host headers to be added to the IIS instance.
