Hi All,

I'm administering a higher ed web site where each department has its own child portal. Right now I'm just using the standard search box that comes with DNN 5.x. It will only search the portal you are on, not the entire domain. I would like to be able to search all of our portals and domains from one search box that appears on every page and possibly have the option of searching the web too. Is there a way to configure the current  search box to do that? Or is there a 3rd party tool that will work?

Thanks,

-s

You could edit the stored procedure [dnn_GetSearchResultsByWord] to return results ignoring the portalID.  This is modifying the core, so you would need to keep modify on each dnn upgrade, but hey, it gets the job done.

I wonder whether this could be used to develop a module for enterprise level search :)
