Hi I am new to DotNetNuke and IIS,

I trying to set up the system on a fresh 2008R2 with IIS7 (runs nothing else)

I have installed the trial version of PRO and have approval to purchase however there seems to be a configuration error somewhere that is causing a lot of grief !!! before I can proceed.

In every portal I can not manage the file structure, I get AN ERROR HAS OCCURED.  Access to the path \'Portal Root\\FOLDER\' is denied. from the portals file manager.  I am logged in as the SuperUser account and have also tried each portal as the Portal Administrator.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Cheers
Brett

Hi,

please check your permissions from root folder and all files and subfolders in it  must have the following permissions:

IIS user must have read permissions
your application user must have change, read, write execute permissions

Also be ensure that you have set both connection strings in the web.config file !

Thank you for the quick respose Matthias,

Permissions are correct however - they flow through the file system from the directory root, in my case C:\inetpub\wwwroot\dotnetnuke

I have just discovered that I can manage the files in the root portal,  I am unable to manage them in additional portals.  I have checked the rights in the directory name and under the portal\number

Cheers
Brett

On new created portals only the admin user and host user should have access to folders and files.  To manage user permissions to the files you should use Adminsitrator/File Manager on DNN.  Only on the Administrator section you could add roles or users to your portal folders.

But if I understand you correct you could not access the Paths on ~\Portals\x as the administrator of this portal. Please make ensure the admin is in the admin role (you could check this in the users table of your database.
