Hello,
I am trying to figure out what effect would changing the "Site Settings > Advanced Settings > Usability Settings > Control Panel Mode" setting have. What is is supposed to do exactly (I read the manual)?

this is for Icon and Ribbon Control Panel to specify, whether it is expanded by default. AFAIK, default control panel in DNN6 doesn't have this feature.

Actually that would be the "Control Panel Visibility" setting where the value can either be Minimized or Maximized, which also as you mention has no use in DNN 6. The setting I am talking about can have either View or Edit for a value which even in the context of DNN < version 6 I still don't understand (I am pretty new to DNN).
Thanks,

the other setting specifies default view for a page, if a user has edit permission.

Thanks I get it now:
The Visibility setting is pointless now and the Mode setting is the default selection in the modes (View/Edit/Layout) that will be selected when a user logs in until they select another mode. This seems not that adequate since there is also a Layout Mode, but anyways.
Thanks again.
