I asked my hosting co to create a separate application pool for each of two DNN 5.2 websites,
And assign full rights to the identity for each respective site, which they say they have done.

When I look at the host settings for each site, the ASP.NET worker process is set to  "NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE"

Shouldn't it be set to thename of the identity created by each application pool?

I hate to "Bump" a post, but I did not get a single response to the original.

Can anyone who has a dedicated app pool for their site tell me what the worker process is set to in Host Settings? It is always NT AUTHORITY/NETEORK SERVICE or is it the identity associated with the App pool?

which is the windows user specified in each application pool - do you have access to these settings?

It is always the app pool identity.  Which may be the NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK SERVICE account.  That was the default in IIS 6 and many hosts still use it, even on IIS 7, in a shared environment.  You have to eitrher have access to the IIS configuration or ask the host to verify that it's the app pool account.

Depending on which version of IIS your hosting is running there can be a number of different answers to this quesiton.

For IIS 5.x and lower  NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK or
NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK SERVICE s the most typical user permisison

For IIS 6.x this started to change though most still use NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK SERVICE
But many like PLESK systems however will tend to look a little different since they always assign a unique user to each hosting
GENERIC49\IWPD_42(hostingname)

For IIS 7.x  IIS APPPOOL\sitename is the new default

If your hosting is using IIS 7 servers then you would normally be seeing IIS_APPPOLL\  which is a special unique user locked to a single application pool - this is the most secure dynamic permission as it does not permit any sort of cross domain leakage.
