I'm going to ring this bell again. It looks like there had been some progress on defining the feature, but it looks like the work kind of stopped last fall.

https://dnntracker.atlassian.net/browse/DNN-3197

It would be great if we could get an update on the plan for this feature.

I am not aware of recent progress, beside it now conflicts with performance changes made for DNN-5107.

Incredibly disappointing.
A basic feature that could add amazing flexibility to designers and it can't see the light after years of waiting.

Designers are forced to kludge workarounds.

I couldn't agree more Phil, very disappointing. It looked like this had significant momentum last year.

I'm sure "cache tab settings" got a lot of votes in the community voice, and was also marked as "accepted". Just kidding, but if an idea was accepted and a plan was put in place to implement, what went wrong? How do we get this back on the roadmap?

the issue now to solve is how to take care of a growing number of tab settings for large sites, if all tab settings are loaded on website initialization (with an additional join operation in the database) - without affecting initial load time significantly. With just 20 settings of 250 bytes each, a site with 1000 pages (pages residing in the bin included) will have to load 5 MB (compared to 5 KB just for the page currently browsed).

Sebastian Leupold
