For some reason, DNN will not redirect the user back to the page they were viewing after logging in.  It sends them back to the homepage.  how can I fix this?

On the User Accounts, User Settings page, you can specify redirect pages after Login, Registration, and Logout -i suspect you've set the page there. If you remove it the login with redirect to whatever redirectUrl was in the URL that opened the login page.

Nope, that's the problem.  In the user settings page you are talking about, I have it set to nothing on redirect.  I can set it to a page (say the staff page) and it will redirect there.  But, when I set it to nothing, it always redirects back to the homepage.  I need it to send the user back to the page they were on when they clicked the login link.

could you please try installing Fiddler and recording what's happening (and posting the details back here) - basically if the login link contains a returnUrl it will always return to that if a login page has not been set so it seems something is doing a redirect before (e.g. a 3rd party urlrewriter/module/SSL configuration)
