hi I'm so excited to try the 6.1 Version with mobile support, but I think that all the admin functions are exclusive for the Professional Edition.

Do you think is possible to make something of similar with the CE?
I look for on snowcovered and find 2 modules that can be that but I'm not sure if is the right solution.

My target is to make a website and is corresponding mobile site, but how is possible use the same content..... when I write a new blog article I want write it one time!

what do you think is the best way for make a mobile site on CE version?
thanks

I'm just about to upgrade to 6.1, this is a feature that i have been arguing that should be included in all versions as mobile devices make up so many users these days, also this is in my arguement not something that should be limited to just Pro and Ent users as how many other products like wordpress etc have these features already for all to use. As well why should we asume that only pro users would be the only users who would use. I have had pointed out that devs can write and use the new api's which to my arguement for module dev thats fine but the simple enhancements like browser redirection should this not  be for all and not relyant on a module to handle and be more core functonailty. Or is this something to more seperate the roadmaps for the 3 products.

Just again my thoughts on this topic.

Hi Craig

I agree with you, I'm sure that this functionality is extremely useful for all the user!
But, I'm interested to upgrade some website of my client to a mobile version and the problem is how make this now?

Is clear why DNN Staff have made this choice, and is clear, for me, that is impossible that they put this add-on on the CE Edition.

In conclusion I spend my time to find a solution I'm interested to discuss with some one that have my same problem for find the best solution.

the possible scenarios are:
- use commercial modules
- wait fore other modules based on the new 6.1 API
- change CMS

what do you think?

I personally love DNN i usally never complain on the work the guys do, this is prob one of the few times i've really disagreed with the reason why they have left it out of ce. I too am trying to look for reasons other than a motive to shift more users to the PE version which in my view for a project i have loved since dnn 2 see more and more being a comercial motivated product which is honeslty heatbreaking. I understand that dnn corp is now a buisness and they are in it to make money. Just features like this which surely are something that would have benifited all rather than just the pro users would have made more sense. Skin designers could have made mobile skins for all versions and hense created more sales for snowcovered same goes for module developers. Honeslty i can't work out why they left it out other than as we said a motivational push to move people from ce to pe. Making dnn more motivated to profit than community. Honestly its heartbreaking in a way for a project i have followed for so may years. Out of intrest anyone from the corp able to answer why the decision was made to exclude such a big feature out of the community edition?

Sorry Martin,
I forgot to post what i think to your questions
  1. Use commercial modules                 Looks like we have no choice but to.
  2. Wait fore other modules based on the new 6.1 API                     Again looks like CE have no choice but to.
  3. Change CMS                            Something i would never want to do and hope the people at the top see that missing such a key feature makes users ask the question.
