Something I discovered a short time ago is that if I modify my web.config file in a certain way, I can get my superuser profile image to work (as well as a few other things in DotNetNuke). When I download and install a fresh instance of DNN 7, the tag within the tag is empty. But if I add a little code to the tag ( to be precise) then the portrait functionality works. I've done this now with three separate instances of DNN 7 running on the Internet, and in each case the additional code seemed to solve my problems. For me at least, the code looks like this beginning on line 74:

Not sure why a fresh install of DNN 7 doesn't already include the additional code within the tag, but it sure fixed the issue on my server!

Sorry, folks. The system here apparently doesn't like code to be inserted. Here's what I have in my web.config file beginning on line 74 (substituting single quotes for double quotes):

Hope this helps!

Did you ever get a straight answer to this?

I am having the same issue - users can upload and update profile pics in Chrome and Firefox but not IE.

This is a serious problem for us since we are setting up an intranet site and IE is our supported browser - so telling everyone to use FIrefox or Chrome is not an option.

I cannot believe the silence on this issue from DNN!! UNREAL!!

Nope.

It's also an issue in the Pro version, even on dotnetnuke.com! I contacted support directly several times over it and got nowhere.

I isolated it started to rewrite the control months ago and changed my mind because I didn't want to support core code every time an update is released.

The only true fix that I ever found for this is SharePoint. Sad but true.

I was loyal DNN fan/supporter/developer for YEARS. I've moved on.

Randy,

To answer your question, yes, I got it to work (and yes, it works on IE, at least IE 10). I found that modifying DNN's web.config file in a particular way was the fix; I tried to present the code in an earlier post, but the forum apparently doesn't allow code. If you can find this in your web.config file:

system.webServer
modules

Add some code to the modules reference like this:

modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests=true

I'm currently running an instance of DNN 7 at http://www.jarexpress.com, and I was able to get the profile image to work. Feel free to email me directly at scott@thehway.com and I'd be happy to share the associated part of my web.config file for you to try.
