I have given a user EDIT acess to the Announcements Module and Text/HTML Module.

The User Does NOT have EDIT access to the PAGE.

However, the ModuleAction Edit controls do not show up unless the page is in EDIT mode?
The user cannot go into EDIT mode because they do not have EDIT access to the PAGE. What's wrong here? How can my user edit the module (which they have edit right to do) if the edit controls don't show up for them?

Note: I'm using the New DNN7 Control Bar and the new container controls that give you the 3 hover controls on the top right.

I am using an older version of dnn so this might not have the same wording as yours but here is what I would do.

1. go to the page while signed in as an administrator or super user.

2. click on settings under the page functions on the admin/super user banner

3. under basic settings, go to the permissions area

4. add the username of the person that you want to have permission and click add

5. Now select the view and edit check boxes.

6.scroll down and click update.

7. go to each module on the page and do the following:

7.1 click settings and then go.

7.2 under basic settings, permissions, uncheck inherit View permissions from page.

7.3 select who can view the module and edit the module for each module.

Let me know if this answers your question

No @Dodgefate , that gives the user PAGE level permissions which would allow the user to add modules, delete the page, or add another page etc (Way too many permissions).

So, I tested another user with identical user roles and the ModuleAction Controls come up as expected.
So there is either a BUG somewhere or a corrupted user.
I've checked all the tables I can think of and the user settings look identical.

I removed all the users' Roles and re-entered them. I unauthorized and reauthorized the user, changed the username to remove a period(.) from it thinking that may have caused an issue. All to no avail.

Frustrating, and I still haven't tracked down the cause.

Hi again Brad. Did you try my steps from above? I just verified that it works. I made a test account with basic privileges (just a regular user that can view what other registeered users can). I then went to a page only visible by administrators, and added the new test account to the list of permissions. I then allowed this test account to view the page. Now I can view the page (which is blank considering that I have not allwed it to view any modules yet) from the test account.  I then allowed this test account to only view one module on the page. I then allowed this test account to manage the feedback/moderation and it all worked fine. It all seems to work for me...... Give it a shot with a test account and see if it works.

Brad,

did you definitely deny edit permissions on page level (red stop sign), or just leave the box unchecked?

Best wishes
Michael
