Upgraded from 7.0.5 to 7.1.1 and Control bar menu fails, but only for modules or editing.  Every other aspect works which seems odd.  Have temporarily switched to the old ribbon bar. 

 I did try the <system.webServer> <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true"> setting for web.config as suggested elsewhere, but no joy.  Removing site cookies has no effect.

Tested on my clean dnn default skin portal and that made no difference.

 Suggestions?

I prefer running ribbon bar or advanced ribbon bar for all our sites.
Iconbar looks nice, but is very inefficient.

Have you done a hard delete of all cookies? This worked for me

Cookies made no difference. Logged in from a clean computer and still had the issues.

On top of that, search doesn't work and file manager page is blank. For me, upgrading from 7.0.x to 7.1.1 has been less the optimal.

to fix file manager issue in DNN 7.1.1, enable popups in Site Settings. Which browser are you using?
