there is no automated upgrade.
- start with a backup of your site and database or upgrade a clone of your site.
- make sure, your IIS website is running in an app pool configured for ASP.Net 4 in integrated mode
- make sure, your database compatibility level is 100 (SQL Server 2008) or above.
- Download 7.1.2 upgrade package from http://DotNetNuke.codeplex.com
- unblock downloaded file (file properties, at the bottom of first tab)
- unzip all content hierarchically and copy over your existing DNN install, overwriting existing files.
- Upgrade page should pop up automatically, otherwise browse to /install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade
done.
