Hi all, I hope somebody can help me I have been running this site for 5 years now but recently I started having some problems that cannot be fixed.

The site was working until yesterday night, today it gives this error:

DNN Error

Connection To The Database Failed

I have searched about this error and I found posts and solutions about new installs, but this site was already running, is not a new install.

I had a previous problem of not being able to edit users or roles that haven´t been fixed, I don´t know if its related. I upgraded the site to the latest DNN version three weeks ago to try to fix it, it didn't fixed and the site was still running after the upgrade.

I checked web.config and the parameters are ok, and used them to access the database on SQL server management studio, I can see the database, run queries in to it, etc.

what I see is that the database is too large, it is 513MB and only two tables use most of the space

_EventLog 37408KB

-SiteLog 424656 KB

This is really strange because since I migrated from hosting service about a year ago the log site was not working whenever I tried to see it on DNN I got a message saying that the hosting didn't allowed logs.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

if you have limited database size, you may free up space by running "Truncate Table Eventlog" and "Truncate Table SiteLog".
Please check size of Database Transacction log as well, it may cause issues, if it is larger than the database file itself.
