I am using vanity URLs.  If the user name has spaces (and consequently the vanity name), then the site is directed to a lost page.  Without spaces the vanity URL works fine.  I'm also using a users prefix (i.e. mysite.com/users/vanityname).  Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

For information, my site is running in DNN 07.01.02.  I did try upgrading to 7.2.0 to see if it resolved the issue, but I appeared to be getting a javascript error ... - and I was in panic mode as the reports module xsl links do not function in 7.2 and my entire site was broken.  I've reverted to 07.01.02 and would like to fix the vanity URL issue as it is blocking users for accessing their profile.  Will upgrade once the reports module issue is sorted out.

this is somewhat by design as there are a number of times when a displayname cannot automatically become a vanityurl - whilst usernames can have spaces, spaces (and various other characters such as &, <, > etc.,) cannot be used in a url without being encoded i.e. a username of "test user" would become "test%20user". Whilst we could change the space to another character such as - or _, or even remove it, we prefer not to apply this as a default but instead leave it up to the user. For the user to correctly expose their vanityurl they should log in, go to their profile, hit my account, then click the manage accounts tab - they have a 1-time opportunity to select their desired vanity url. Note: this functionality is also usually used when multiple users select the same displayname -as only 1 can have that as the vanityurl then the first person to set it has claimed that url

Thanks Cathal.

I see how all this works for new users (just tested it as well). For existing users (from before DNN Vanity URLs and when I was still using URL Master), I still have a problem. The link to their profile is rendered as a Vanity Link, but with their display/user name, including spaces. This means they cannot get to their profile (and I assume if they could the one time Vanity URL option would not be there). Is there anyway to reset the full site Vanity URL so that everyone is like a new user and has the option to set a new Vanity name.

Steven

I've deleted any existing vanity names with a space. These users seem to now have the default profile link back. Hopefully, things should work as normal from here.
