The log viewer is located in the admin menu, but it shows me logging of all sites. Shouldn't the log viewer thus be located in the host menu?

usually the log viewer displays stats for the current website only.
Please check GetSiteLog1 .. GetSiteLog12 stored procedures in the database, they should contain "Where PortalID= @PortalID"

I can select a specific website, so I guess I'm seeing everything because I'm a superuser.

I was looking for host logging, but couldn't find it (in the host section), so I went to look for logging for a particular site and was surprised to see system-wide logging in the admin section.

it's context aware and will show either the site (for the admin) or all sites (for host)
