Hi,

 I've got a relatively new portal that when I try to reach the root, ie. site.com I get the messages

The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

However if I use site.com/default.aspx or site.com/home.aspx (or any other page for that matter) it works fine.

All other Portals on my DNN installation dont have the same problem so I'm guessing it's nothing on Host settings or friendly URLs or anything like that. Its version 06.01.05.

I may have previously deleted the home page and re-created it ... perhaps this might have something to do with it? I've also been messing about with SSL settings but have reverted everything I changed and compared all portal settings to a working site and they are the same. But it may be that I've never tried accessing the site by this URL before as I have been using a development alias, so it's been broken since the portal was created.

Just hoping someone has an idea of what this might be .... as I have no idea what the mechanism in play is here ?!

Hi Rob.

Have you selected a 'Home Page' for your site in Admin/SiteSettings/AdvancedSettings under 'Page Management' ?
That is the only thing I can think of.

Hi Jacqui,

Thanks for your reply, yes that's set to Home.

 I tried altering it to another page and navigating to site.com/default.aspx, and it redirected correctly to the other page, but still navigating to site.com failed to redirect at all.

Any other ideas appreciated ...?

Make sure the entries in your portal alias settings are correct. Make sure there is no trailing slash at the end of your default alias.
