Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

Does anyone know what causes the URLs table to get populated? What is this table used for?

I have a SP that finds URLs in the DB and then checks to see if they are broken and I'm getting results from the URLs table but I can't figure out what cause these links to be inserted into it. There isn't anything that I can find to use to trace the link back to a page, tab or module they're being displayed.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Al

some modules (or, more precisely: core controls for selecting URLs) insert records into URLs table, when the link is created, especially, if you select TrackURL or LogURL option.

Sebastian,

Thanks very much for your reply. Do you know if there is a way to trace these links back to their source? There is very little in the URLs table (URLID, PortalId, URL) Alternatively would there be undesirable consequences if I deleted items from this table directly?

Cheers Al

Al,
there are very few modules taking full Advantage of URLs table, but if you delete rows, it will stop tracking and logging for these URLs, if enabled.
Besides, some modules may use the table to suggest URLs (the old UrlControl had this Option), besides I am not aware of a use case for this table.
