Hello,

I'm running DNN 5.5.1. I'm trying to delete a Portal on my DNN instance (it's not the main Portal) and keep getting a timeout error. I go to Host-> Portal and click the delete icon next to the Portal and I get the following error:

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I would start by checking to see if the EVENTLOG table has millions of records, then check the USERS table and other tables which might have lots of records. You might have to manually delete records from those tables, relating the Portal you are trying to delete, so that the process can complete normally.

be careful deleting entries from users table, it may contain records used by multiple sites within your DNN.
Clear eventlog and site log and try again. if this doesn't solve your issue, use Reports in SQL Server Management Studio to identify largest tables.

I checked the Eventlog table and it  has 580 records, doesn't seem that many to me. The Sitelog table, however, has 11276906 records. Those records are from all our portals, not just from the one I want to delete. How do I clear the eventlog and sitelog tables? Should I delete only the records related to the portal I want to remove?

SiteLog is likely the issue. Are you actually using the site log, meaning, using the reports off of that? Most people have that turned off on their sites.

If you aren't using the data, turn it off in the HOST SETTINGS and you'll have to change the log history setting for each existing portal.

Then run truncate table sitelog in the DATABASE (from the host/sql page) and that should clear it out.
