Hello,

I have a simple question, so I hope that I can make it clear the first time.

Is there any way to use graphic images on your site uploaded in for instance <root>\images folder.
Right now, when I try to do this, I can only select the root folder, so when I would be uploading multiple images my root folder would be completely filled with images, while I on the other hand want to keep the directory structure as clean as possible.
This might also come in handy in the future, when I would be making a new layout for the site and would have newer files uploaded also.
Maybe there's a solution allready described inside this forum, but I was unable to find it.

The solution might be easy, but it's giving me a headache along with another problem of mine that I asked about in the forum about DNN forums.

Hope you can help me and when I am not clear enough I will be gladly to explain more.

using the file manager (in the admin menu) you can create subfolders in your portal root directory.. is that what you mean?

if you are talking about skinning.. images used in skins are normally located in the folder for that particular skin

cheers,

Erik

Hi Erik,

Well I am not talking about skinning in particular, atleast this is not my point right now.

I am talking about the module settings and specifically underneath this the page settings.
Inhere you can select an icon for the specific module.
I can only select root for these images, but since I want to have these images in another folder, I can't select these from here.
I found more of these settings that restricts me to use the root folder, for instance the media module, which only allows me at this moment to select the images from the root folder.
Maybe there is something wrong with my DNN installation, because I can't find any other question about this issue on these forums or maybe it's just a simple setting which I overlooked or maybe I am looking at the wrong place and you're right that I should use the file manager, even when I prefer a ftp program to upload my files, which is faster and more reliable.

ok maybe i was not clear enough... the only way to make new folders is to do that from the filemanager (admin > filemanager). If you added folders there, you can select them anywhere where an URL control is used (such as for the module image). Mind you: for non admins some folders will be invisible in the url controls, you can set folder level permissions in the file manager

Thanks again for your quick reply,

but now I have another problem when I try to make a folder named media, I get the following error.

An error has occurred.

Access to the path \'Media\' is denied.

I tried to do this as admin or host (host both in admin as in host submenu).
I must say that this folder already existed since I made one in ftp allready, but after this error I deleted this folder through ftp and tried again, even worked with capitals or tried to make a folder 'afbeeldingen' dutch for images, but still get the same error.
I wish my english would be better, because I always think that I am missing out something, but I try to post this in english here, since more people are available for help here.
Maybe I should change the settings on my server for a specific folder, but since I made my application running on read, write, web and root (settings in my provider godaddy.com) I think that this would be enough to create a new folder from within DNN.
