Ok, that module is probably using an external page without putting the portalid or the tabid on the querystring.

When this happens you will be logged out because DNN does not know what portal you should be in.

Ahh ... this very well may be the case. (how would I fix this?) However when I sent a msg to the designer of the module (From the Snowcovered site) he said that it worked fine on their test "child" portal. I know this happened before with my portals while running DNN 3.1 where I had these same issues with another module and could never figure out how to correct it. I am wondering if it has to do with Godaddy as a hosting service? What should my settings be on permissions for the folder that DNN runs in? I am set up like www.mydomain/myport/ myport being where DNN is installed . Myport is set with Read, Web, Write, and Set Root permissions. The only other options I have are Browse and Reset.

Do you get any "viewstate" errors?  Or any security.crypto type errors?  I am having similar issues and think it has something to do with the authentication cookies in my case.

JMitch, can you elaborate or point me in the right direction to the fixes of these issues in 3.3?  Upgrading would require me to work on some custom modules because of the breaking changes but I'll upgrade if it fixes the bad data/crypto/authentication/cookie errors which constantly throw errors and log users out (at least admin/superusers).

I'm too poor for anything other than the community version

Lilryno,

I am not sure about the types of errors that you mention but I do know that just the other day I logged into the Child portal with it's Admin Login and tried to go to one of the admin links such as Pages and I got booted to the Login page. Also with the Module I have been using it's pretty wierd that when I log in as a random user - not registered at all - I can see the image along with text. Then when I log in as the administrator for the child portal the image is just an "x" not showing up. I even moved the image to a different folder via the Host login and made that folder visible to ALL , I still get this issue. The module maker claims that the module works under their tests with a child portal so I am wondering if it's an issue with my Hosting Provider.

*P.S. I did create a super user from the host site and logging in with this account to the child portal it can do anything without errors. Weird.

Whenever a module links to a page in the DotNetNuke application it must either have the portalid, or the tabid on the querystring.

If it doesn't, then the end user will be logged off, becasue the application can't determine what portal they are supposed to be in.
