Hello Forums!

I am having some issues with my child portals. I have read through the forums here and it looks like I am not the only one who is having issues with the child portals.

First off I am running DNN 4.03 on a Godaddy server.

The issues I am having is very similar to those I have read about here. So far I have 2 child portals and on one particular I am trying to set up as a personal site that will allow only approved regisrants to view the site past the home page. Once I created that site I logged in as the new admin and tried to set things up however I did not get far when the portal kicked me to the "Log-in" page. Also I tried to set up a new module (installed it from the host portal) called linkCombo4 which is a really nice module from what I can tell. While working with this module I noticed that my admin user for the new child module can not view the image that I uploaded with the linkCombo4 module. Not only that, the admin keeps getting booted to the log-in screen. I then created a "super user" from the Host portal and logged into the child portal and no issues at all. This would be fine if I was the only one wanting to get into the site but if it wont let my admin for the child portal do anything nor view the images from the LinkCombo4 module then as I tested neither can a registered user. I also noticed while trying to edit the file manager page with my admin for the child portal I get booted out as well.

Has there been a work-around for this issue yet? Is there a setting I need to set from the Godaddy site? I just dont understand that if I set the child portal up with an admin while creating it, why cant the admin edit the child portal as it should be able to?

Please help,

Terry Naylor

Please login as Host and go to your Log Viewer to see how many application restarts you are getting.

Also, there have been some changes to the authentication cookie for 3.3/4/3 which should help with this issue.

Well from what I can tell - being a noob at this - I would say that the entries that say:

Aplication started -

Aplication ended are the errors happening.

Both are colored in purple

As for the cookie thing - I am not sure about that part. I did try to check the portal with the latest Firefox and ran into the same problems.

How many of those application restarts are you getting?

If you are logged in as admin and suddenly get logged out, please log in as host and see if an application restart happened at that time.

Also let us know exactly what you were doing at the time it happened. For example if you just clicked on a link what link was it, or if you hust uploaded a file, or created a folder.

Ok just tried again and what I found was that the kick to the log-in page did not trigger any exceptions. What I did to trigger it was to click from the home tab (with the admin for the child portal) to the photos page which is set to be viewed by authorised users only. Then I clicked on the settings for the LinkCombo4 module. Once I did that it booted me. Also note that in the LinkCombo4 module when logged in with the Host account there is a picture showing along with some text. In researching I have made sure that this image file is set to be seen by all.

So I am not sure what was causing the other errors however I have had it boot me to the log-in page at other times but I have not logged or documented it.
