Thank you for reading. My site, http://www.bringhome172nd.org , is shared-hosted on GoDaddy using DNN 4.0.2 and ASP 2.0.

The site has been controversial and received much national press attention. Because it involved active duty United States military members participating anonymously, I knew I couldn't have a DNN Verified Portal (anonymity was important initially).

Four months later, now the site is switching over to a Verified Portal. I have 300 usernames which people have selected and emailed to me, and a friend of mine wrote for me a simply Python script to generate 300 random passwords, to match. (I am not a programmer.)

How can I enter 300 new User profiles without needing to hit 'Add New User' several hundred times within the 'User Accounts' (admin) menu?

I can form this user list (email address, username, password) into a CSV file, or an Excel document, or anything else as required.

Important note: I do have access to all host directory files thanks to WebExpress Lite (ASP 2.0).

Thanks very much for any replies or ideas. admin @bring home 172nd . o r g

To John Mitchell --

Uhh ... WOW! Thanks! This seems to be exactly the scripting for the task I was looking to accomplish. I will need help from my programmer friend on the .XML side, and I'll need to learn how to access my DB on GoDaddy. Both will be great learning experiences for me, though. I believe I have heard some complaints about accessing the DB on GoDaddy, so I'll start with Googling that goal. Again the DNN community jumps in to help. Also -- do you have a link(s) to the web stores where your products are sold? The CSS items look nice and I definitely enjoy rewarding generosity. You can email me if you wish, admin @ bring home 172nd . o r g Thank you again.

Hi marksman,

You won't need to get to the DB directly to use this utility unless you need it to get your users into the XML format needed for the input.  That SQL on the blog was just my way of extracting the users from a different DB.

If you have them in Excel, then you should be able to just name your fields the same as the required XML nodes and then save your spreadsheets as XML.

Your response is more than enough reward, but since you asked here is the link to Snapsis Store for DotNetNuke

John,

Does running the importusers.aspx from my site assign the correct portal id to the users?

And, I think I have missed the obvious, how do I run it from the site?  I can get it to load from the server but not remotely.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Ken
