Thanks betacam, that's useful.

I have used Axialis Icon Workshop. It comes with a nice library, but doesn't yet offer layers :(. Still, a nice interface and a good piece of software. More info at http://www.axialis.com.

Hello All ... have read throught all of that.

So, I have put the favicon I want in the root directory, and even deleted the old one, triple checked that it is in fact the new favicon there, have also put it in portal 0. (And have tried having it in just the root directory and just in portal 0). I managed to get it to change from the DNN favicon, but now I cant get it to change again. Have tried clearing cache, cookies etc etc etc.

Any ideas?

Using IE 7 and DNN 4.3.5

Thanks, Sarah.

You did all ofthe right things (assuming the cache you cleared was your browser's). I've found IE7 to be a bit flaky with favicons - sometimes they show, sometimes they don't.

I had a real mess too on this. On one site the DNN code puts the html instrunction (link rel="shortcut..."...) on the body instead of the head :-(
On other 2 sites no code at all, but just favicons on the root directory.
In all cases Firefox was displaying the correct icon and IE7 never or almost never. Clearing caches and the rest suggested here had no effect.

Until I tried copying the favicon on the "portals/0/" directory and now they all show up.
