I recently set the registration settings to verified.  I had a couple of people test it, and they were not receiving an email.

After that I set it up to just allow public registration.  People were only able to login once, at the time of registration.  The moment they logged out, they were unable to log back in.  I have done some searching and I am unable to find anyone with the same issue as me.  Any help would be greatly appreciated

I am using DNN 4.4

I just did a fresh install of DNN 4.4.0 today and have my registration set to verified.  I did not realize I had an issue very much like yours until I tried creating a dummy user whose email address was not on the same domain name/server as my DNN install.  The first dummy user I created was on the same domain name as my site is and I did receive the email verification to that account.

For the account not on the domain name, I never received the email.  When I looked in my log files, I found a message that reads like this InnerException: Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: <dummy email address not on the domain name > No such user here

That is an odd message because the email account of my dummy user is a valid functional email account on a totally different domain.

You may want to have a look at another thread in this forum that has similar type issues which I started on regarding the newsletter but ended up realizing the issue seems to be an email problem throughout the site.  In this other thread I show examples of what happens when I try verified registration in researching my newsletter issue.  The link is http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/108/threadid/98390/scope/posts/Default.aspx

Thanks for the follow up.  I read your post and I agree, it does seem very similar.  I am going to test registering a same-domain email address and I'll follow up with what happens to me.  Also, I'll look over the Logs to see if there have been any errors similar to yours.
