I have added a number of new profile properties to associate with registered users.  When I register a new account, the new properties are displayed and can be filled out.  But when I log in as the new user and try to access the properties (click on user name -> Manage Profile), none of the additional properties that I filled out are displayed.  If I fillout the properties again, the values are saved.

I have another DotNetNuke install that handles the additional fields correctly.  I created this installation by cloning that install.

Questions:

1)  Did the cloning process cause this problem?

2)  What table are these additional properties saved in?

3)  Any ideas how to resolve?

Thanks for your help -- MJS

have a look at "user settings" in "Manage Users", there is a setting, if the profile needs to be filled in immediately.

A new user trying to register can see the additional field to fill out.  The new user fills out the fields and successfully creates the new user account.  When the user logs back in and tries to view his profile, none of the additional fields that were completed during registration were saved -- all additional fields are blank.

The user can successfully update their profile and save the additional fields when he logs back in.

Hi,

Did you figure out a solution? I'm having the exact same problem. I tried upgrading DNN which did not work. I'm now using DNN 3.3.7.

Thanks

1) How did you clone it? The easy way of cloning that I found for myself, is to create a template of existing portal (under Host->Portals) and including the content (there is a checkbox for that). Then I edit the DotNetNuke.install.config file under /Install/ and change the template name (the template file itself has to go under \Portals\_default\). Make sure to include the skin you are using under \Portals\_default\Skins\ and any modules used under \Install\Module\ (all the modules with .zip will be installed upon initial installation, .resources will stay there for manual installation, so you can just rename .resources to .zip the ones you want to be installed automatically).

2) Fields are stored in the ProfilePropertyDefinition table, actual values for those fields in the UserProfile table.

Hope this helps.
