Hi, a question about using the HouseMenu . . .

What is the proper syntax? I have the following:

<dnn:MENU runat="server" id="dnnHOUSEMENU" Scope="-1" ShowHome="True" ShowParent="True" ShowHidden="False" ShowAdmin="True" ShowSearchResults="False" ShowPageIcons="True" HidePageNames="False" IsRecursive="True" Orientation="V" Mode="D" />

As you can see, I want the menu to display vertically, but it is displaying horizontally. And if I change things like ShowHome="False", it still shows Home in the menu; if I change ShowPageIcons="False", it still shows the icons. So basically, nothing I did make things look different.

Am I using it correctly? Unfortunately, the documentation that came with the installation is very sparse.

Thanks for any assistance.

jc

Gah- and it doesn't help that the site is still under construction/ being resurrected...

Besides the HTML for the skin as you've posted, do you also have the housemenu referenced in the skin css?

In the absence of the HouseofNuke.com site, you could examine the css from other sites that maybe make use of it? Like thinkofdesign.com, or dnncreative.com

Should you not go to module settings/house menu settings and

If I'm not mistaken, jc is referring to the HOUSEMENU skin object (as opposed to the module)...

jc's post shows:
dnn:MENU runat="server" id="dnnHOUSEMENU"

The reference that I have in one of my skins is:
dnn:HOUSEMENU runat="server" id="dnnHOUSEMENU"

I don't know if that is important, but it is different. Further, I have a reference in the same line:
CssElementId="houseMenuVstatic"
(mine is a static menu...)

and then multiple declarations in the skin.css that describe the appearance of such.
Have you the same?

Yes, y01nk is correct that I am using the HOUSEMENU skin object (I tried the HOUSEMENU module already, it did not work in my case . . . received some kind of "object reference" error, can't remember the exact wording now. So I uninstalled the module and decided to use the skin object instead.)

y01nk, I did tried

dnn:HOUSEMENU runat="server" id="dnnHOUSEMENU"

. . . but I get the error message

" Could Not Load Skin: /Portals/3/Skins/A16Lib/A16Lib-HouseMenu-JC.ascx Error: Unknown server tag 'dnn:HOUSEMENU'. "

Therefore I use "dnn:menu" instead. But then may be by doing so, I was not implementing the HOUSEMNEU and that might explain my changing the attributes showed no effect.

So what can be wrong . . . why was I getting the " Unknown server tag 'dnn:HOUSEMENU' " error?

What is a static menu?

Thanks for the additional help.
