I've got a number of skins I'm trying, and all of them fail to show up -- saying "no skins exist in folder". They are there (listed) and can be parsed, deleted, and so forth.

The problem appears to be that all of these packages expect that zip files will be unzipped - even if they are in a sub directory. The structure of these packages (as supplied, by reputable skin developers), is this: a Zip file. At top level are the preview JPGs, and then there are two directories, Containers and Skins. Each of these contain a single zip file with the appropriate data.

Is this correct? I mean, I could certainly repackage it, but it seems dumb for the developers to have packaged it if that is incorrect, as there is no advantage to re-zipping something into a larger zip image.

Should skinning (or upload in general) unzip files it finds when unzipping a set of files (i.e. unzip recursively)?

Thanks.

I have purchased commercial skins that expect you to install the skins and containers individually.

From how you are describing it, it's basically a preview of the skins that you purchased in the zip file, then the skin and container files separate.

You will be reuired to install separately based on what you have described here.

The reason you can't see the skin is because it's a folder in a folder structure which is incorrect for parsing skins.

Even my free skins are packaged as a single install to ensure that people who don't know about skinning and just install everything as they see it, get the desired result, OR I name the zip file with UNZIP_ME so people know to unzip that..(well you would think they would)

So, yes you're expectation from reputable skinners that they should package into one full skin package is not unusual, but not all do it. It's not a matter of right or wrong, but how they prefer to package them.
