I am runnin dnn 4.5.1 and just purchased a skin from snowcovered.com. The skin is called versatility. I have installed it and it the process completed successfully. When I applied the skin I got an error. Now I get an error on all of my admin /host pages and a couple of the regular pages. The error is as follows:

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Framework.DefaultPage.Page_Init(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Page.OnInit(EventArgs e) at DotNetNuke.Framework.PageBase.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

The skin did not take on the pages that work and I cannot uninstall it because none of the admin pages work.

Any help in greatly appreciated.

Ok you're stuck but it is a simple fix.  But you will need ftp access to do this..

Download the default skin and rename to the skin you uploaded and set - the one that broke the site.

Then, ftp and overwrite that skin in the folder.  Then refresh the page.

You can go in and reset to existing skin that works.. and then delete that skin package.

I suggest you test your skins on a single page first.

You can also fix this via the database and a simple update to two records.

I explain the process on my blog http://www.mitchelsellers.com

It comes in handy for those times when you break soemthing and don't have FTP access...(Like what happened to me when I found out how to fix it this way...)

Hi Mitch,

I can not find the description on your page.  Can you past the link please?

I am observing the same error like Trevor, but it seems that the database freezed (now it is displaying only An error has occurred message and not communicating at all)
