Having a problem uploading a skin in version 4.x  We are getting this error:

File may be set to Read Only.  Browse to the file, right click on the file, selct properties.  If Read Only is checked, uncheck it.

It could also be that you are uploading a large skin zip and you are getting the large file upload bug in earlier 4.0. You can ftp the skin to the skin folder of your portal and parse the skin.

I had the same problem.. seems to be it has something to do with file access rights. I didn't have time to think what rights so I copied the zip file in to [yourdotnetnukesite]\install\modules and installed it by browsing to /Install/Install.aspx?mode=installresources .. before that I copied all the files from that folder again since I was not sure if they get installed again since they're already installed with the installing process... seems to work though

Try to change your web.config file, adding the attribute "requestLengthDiskThreshold" to the element "httpRuntime". You must have something like the line below. This should do the trick.

<httpRuntime useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" maxRequestLength="8192" requestLengthDiskThreshold="8192"/>

Regards.
