Hello,

I am very new to skinning and DNN as a whole. Is there a way we can create a skin with horizontal and vertical menus? The home page need to have a horizontal menu but the internal pages need to have a horizontal and vertical menus.

Thanks in advance for any help

Shweta

Hi

this is possible in dnn. What you need to do is add a second menu into your skin file.

heres example code:

1st menu

<dnn:MENU runat="server" id="dnnMENU" rootmenuitemactivecssclass="rootmenuitemactive" rootmenuitemcssclass="rootmenuitem" userootbreadcrumbarrow="false" usearrows="false" rootmenuitemselectedcssclass="rootmenuitemselected" rootmenuitembreadcrumbcssclass="rootmenuitemactive" iconwidth="0"  submenuitemselectedcssclass="submenuitemselect" />

2nd menu

<dnn:MENU runat="server" id="dnnMENU2" rootmenuitemactivecssclass="rootmenuitemactive2" rootmenuitemcssclass="rootmenuitem2" userootbreadcrumbarrow="false" usearrows="false" display="vertical" rootonly="true"  iconwidth="0"  submenuitemselectedcssclass="submenuitemselect" level="same" />

the above two peices of code will render two menus on the same skin, one vertical and one horizontal. you can also control the level which is rendered. I have done this a few times before for clients site in dnn in order to have a horizontal submenu that renders all child items of the current page that the user  is on as well as rendering a main horizontal menu accross the top of the skin.

Hope This helps

Thanks Dr Nuke!

I think I am going to use the Links module for my vertical menu. But if it doesn't work out I can use your idea.

Thanks,

Shweta
