I'm trying to create an ADA/508 version of a page which has a completely different skin set and styles than the normal site. Is this possible at all?

I tried setting up an ASP.NET multiview control in my skin which, with the help of some code, would hopefully allow me to switch the "state" of the skin. However, this screws up the ability to add new modules to the panes (the drop-down menu just goes blank with the multiview control in there).

has anyone done something like this before? this is for a government site so I can't hack the system TOO much. Thanks!

Ryan

Do you need to create the ADA/508 version for just one page, or for all of the pages?  If you're only modifying one page, you might be able to create a brand new page that references all of the original page's modules (so it stays up-to-date more easily... at least until you add another module), and then just give the new page a different skin.  If you're trying to have ADA/508 for all of the pages, though, that won't work (unless you have very few pages overall, and are willing to manually do the copy/copy-modules-as-references/change-skin process for every new page).

I'm not sure what you are asking for. Do you want the user to be able to switch the skin should it switch automatically or do you want a copy of a page with a different skin?

You could create a skin that dynamically changes based on outside parameters.

Here is an example:

thanks for the replies!

yes, the site is for a government client and they need EVERYTHING to be ADA compliant. This means a text-only version, a low graphics version and a high-contrast version in addition to the original site design. So far I have a page that receives a tabid and manually digs into the database to pull out the data. the horrible downside to this is that, if they user wants to add different types of modules other than just text/html, i'm f***ed.

the option to create a new skin that toggles between the normal- and ADA-versions may work, but then the modules themselves will most likely fail ADA/508 compliance (especially on a text-only version!).

this client is giving us all a headache, especially that i'm the only one that knows DNN, and even i have only been using it for about a month!
