I had a strange request to have a menu item appear only on a specific skin, but I sure can't think of any easy way to do this.  Any suggestions?

Why not just code it into the skin using a link instead of the dynamic menu?

I personally don't like fixed links in a skin, although it is sometimes the fastest solution.

Would it be ok to just hide the item? Then you could use the items id and hide it with CSS (display:none;), but only in this specific skin.

You could make a custom menu (it's easier then you think)...

Should it be a complete menu or just one level?

Basically what they were looking for was a menu that showed the top level pages, except when a paticular skin is used they want to not show two of the top level pages in the menu, just one level. They still want the pages accessible, so security settings won't do it.  I don't want to hard code links since they could change as the site gets changed.  I'm working along the line of creating a new menu object, and the other option I looked at was changing the menu object in the skin to a links object and see if I can style that the same.  At least if the pages change they could easily update the links without changing the skin.

Thanks,

Jeff
