Since there are a lot of questions regarding the use of multiple NAV menus on one page lately, I created a demo skin.

Please note you can only do this in an ASCX skin.

I did think it was the tab-ID that needed to be set properly, but I wouldn't have guessed it could only be done in ascx.

I simply copied this line:
StartTabId="<%#Portalsettings.Activetab.Breadcrumbs(0).TabId%>"
from your example into the deployed menu ascx file in the submenu, and now it works :D

Thanks Timo =)

Great Demo Skin Timo. Thanks. But the problem I am having may need to be presented a little more clearly. I have a huge site which doesn't use DNN, and has its own asp.net Menu control which I populate with a LINQ query. This menu is styled by using asp.NET themes which has the menu skinned a specific way in a skin file. I got the menu to keep the look by going into DNN and setting the Theme for the default DNN page to the same as my site. This resolved everything for how the menu looked EXCEPT for the actual links on my menu were not behaving the same as they do on my actual site. I haven't gone through the DNN source yet to see if I could track down what was going on, but from the looks of things, it appears that DNN was doind something to ALL menu controls to get the DNN menu to work a specific way, and it was done in such a way that my menu style definition was overriden. Here is how my menu is skinned:

Bryan Crittenden, could you start a seperate thread for this, please?

It does not seem to be related to DNN 5 skinning specifically
