Newbie here, so please be gentle.

I'm building a skin for a site that will have 4 or 5 variations to the page layout. Therefore, I'm thinking I will need to build a skin file for each variation.

The header and footer regions of the layout are exactly the same on every page. So, I'd like to move the code for the header and footer into include files and "include" them on each skin file.

How do I go about doing this in DNN 5? Do I use a Skin object?

I tried following "Chapter 9: Leveraging web User Controls" from the book "Beginning DotNetNuke Skinning and Design," but am running into various errors. The book is written for DNN 4, so I wonder if that's why the sample code is not working in DNN 5.

Thanks in advance!

You can use an old fashined include like this:

<!--#include file="includes/header.ascx" -->

Well... what I posted is from ASP (pre .NET) so it's like from the stone age ;-)

But it's simple and it works.
