I recently got a project to make a skin for a DNN site and the only problem i am running into involves the menu. On the layout they designed, they have a menu that is split into 2 pieces. This is basically 2 menus but I need it to be treated as one if they add any new pages. Here is an example:

                [ Menu | Starts | At | This | Level ]

                                                              [ Menu | Continues | On | Here ]

So far all i could figure would be to adjust the CSS on the menu control but i havent had any luck with that so now I am guessing that i'll have to do some coding to be able to get this result but not really sure where to look. Does anyone have any experiences similar to this or know of a way to achieve this menu?

Thanks!

Matt,

I recently converted a skin for a client that required the same type of menu. We used a menu provided by snapsis, the CSS NavMenu which you can get off snowcovered. This did require some time for me to learn to reskin, but it turned out well.

Another option might be to use the [MENU] or [SOLPARTMENU] as the root menu and then use the [LINKS] underneath this to display the child items. This won't be dynamic in any way so it depends on the requirements of the menu system.

Rick.

Thank you Rick for your input! I checked it out and it looks like it can do what i need. Not to mention that the dev license is fairly cheap so chances are i'll talk my boss into getting it.

Id still like to know if its possible to use the built in menu in this way if anyone happens to know =-)

I'd also recommend the Snapsis CSS NavMenu

Matt,

You got me wondering the same thing, whether or not I could get a 2 level menu from the built in NAV menu object. After spending a bit of time re-reading the documentation for this (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Development/Forge/GroupSkinning/Downloads/tabid/1254/Default.aspx) I couldn't do it.

Best solution I can think of would be to either use the [LINKS] underneath the [NAV] or 2 [NAV] objects one below the other with the one placed below showing the child level items.

The above is a workaround and would probably be more hassle than using the snapsis 360 menu in the long run.

If anyone else has any other suggestions I'd be interested to hear.

Rick.
