I work with a designer that likes to use a 'scrollable area' for displaying the page content - most of the time this area has a background image as well.
This isn't a problem and i can display the content perfectly, however I need to be able to specify a different admin skin so that when editing the site the content is not in the scrollable area and also does not have a background image.

In dnn 4.x the 'admin' skin setting in site settings worked perfect, but now in dnn 5.x this skin only works when editing text/html.
When I want to view site settings, page settings, module settings, logs etc it still uses the default skin and I cannot view the conetnt properly and in some cases not at all.
Is this a bug? or am I missing something?

If it is a bug will it be fixed soon?

In DNN 5, you may specify a different skin for Admin menu page and apply to all child pages.

Hello, i'm running into the same problem... I'm using DNN 5.6.3 and fixing an old site where they use to have a separate Admin Skin that is different from the Portal Skin.

I tried to find the setting for admin skin only, however i'm not finding it or overlooking it.

Where exactly is the setting for "Admin Skin" that works? I went to Admin Menu>Skins>Apply to Admin
And it DID NOT WORK.

Forgive me if i'm overlooking something but could you or someone provide some clarity on where i can set the Admin Skin(which in my case has to be different from the portal skin) for the site in DNN 5.6.3

And although this is an old post, anybody with knowledge on verifying separate settings for "Admin Skin" and "Portal Skin" that actually works would be great.

Please let me know.

Thanks

In latest version, if you'd like to apply a different skin for admin and host pages, you may apply it to the root menu page (in page settings) and use "copy to descendants)

Ah... i see... THANKS!

This worked well for the Admin pages however i got an error when i tried copy to descendants on the Host Root

A critical error has occurred.
The UPDATE statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_Tabs_ContentItems". The conflict occurred in database "MY_DNN", table "dbo.ContentItems", column 'ContentItemID'. The statement has been terminated.

Not exactly sure why i got the error for the "host" section ... i could probably work around this by setting it for each page for Host.
