I recently had my DNN(one click install) hosted. Now I plan on hiring someone to make my site look like this.
http://www.cbs.com/   as the CSS and white box in the center with a jQurey accordian. I realise it would look plain, but after I make some mental connections I will add things.

What I want to know so far:

1. would I be talking about a skin, template, theme, or module (probably not)?

2. Can jQuery objects be on dynamic pages (.aspx)? I want to use jQuerie's "dark hive" theme with the accordian component, I need to see several records on the same page each in it's own acordian component (customer log in protected)?

Any, any help or input would be appreciated, and don't be afraid of criticizing my lack of knowing ASP.Net terminology!

In dotnetnuke the appearance of a site is handled by the skin, which in many ways is similar to joomla templates or drupal themes, so if you're familar with them then you should be able to come up to speed easily enough. There are some additional dotnetnuke concepts such as skin objects though, so I'd recommend you read the skinning documentation at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Support/Documentation/DownloadableFiles/tabid/478/Default.aspx . As to using jquery, DotNetNuke ships with it by default and a lot of skins use it e.g. take a look at the recent skinning competition entries @ http://skins.dotnetnuke.com/ (all free to download), many of these use jquery, some such as "monster skin" and "alpha brisk" use jqery accordian scrollers.

Very nice reference, and to think I ordered Not Net Nuke for dummies, some documentation I can understand..

And I'm liking the         J10Blend Out Of The Box

J10Blend Out Of The Box Skin!

Any chance someone could tell me what that bar with Home, About us, etc is called? Instead of links I'm planning on using buttons like New Order, search, etc. Any yes the new order button would bring up a new order form using an accordian to separate the parts of the order.

Thanks

Vic

it's the dnnNAV skin object. BTW I should also have mentioned Joe's recent skinning blogs - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/BlogID/3/Default.aspx (look for DotNetNuke skinning 101)

Thanks, after some research and two webnars, I've determined the term skin is deceiving. It looks like it's not just the colors,CSS, and HTML, it's the basic structure of a site. Pains(I believe is an ASP.Net term) included in skins offer the functionality by being able to add moduels etc.
