I created a skin using purely Css in Macromedia. It looks great and works fine in a group of browsers. But then I import the skin to dotnetnuke and it's not displaying the same.

For instance I've put together 2 rows using the float method with enough spacing to spare but in dotnetnuke the contentpane uses up the whole width so the menu is below.

Why would it display nicely as a straight html page but not in dotnetnuke. I have taken out the css links and did all the things I should.

Can someone explain to my why it's not working. I thought creating my own skin was going to be easy and it was until now! ;o(

Creating a table based skin in DNN is straight forward, creating a CSS based skin you sometimes have to jump through a few hoops to get DNN to play nice.

The first thing I would do is change the DOC type to set browsers to use standards compliance mode. - This should solve a lot of your browser display problems.

Once you have done this however the standard Solpart menu will not display correctly and you will need to use a CSS based menu - such as the housemenu: www.houseofnuke.com which the skin object is available for free.

(I seem to recall you can upgrade solpart to work correctly but don't know where the details are on that)

Those are the 2 main things you need to do. - I released a free CSS skin and if you check out the installation instructions in that it will provide all of the details you need to get CSS skins working within DotNetNuke, including details for changing DOC Types and using the HouseMenu. - You can download it from: Free CSS Skin

Hope this helps you get started, thanks,
