I'm quite new to DNN and having major issues getting things to run smoothly. I built out valid (static) xhtml + css files and then someone created three skin templates: 1 contentpane, 2 contentpane, 3 contentpane. They all call the skin.css file.

My question, I want to use my style sheets but cannot get DNN to read them. I tried creating specific sheet per skin ex. 1-col.ascx + 1-col.css, and it didn't work.

I guess my questions are:
1. do I need to change anything in my css to get it read in dnn? I use divs named #leftpane, #contentapne, #rightpane for styles and div/class for the content within each
2. is there an easy way to take static xhtml and load it into dnn?

please please help. i am on a development deadline.

you need to alter default.aspx, to use xhtml, have a search in these forums. Note that IDs of web elements can get altered when being processed by DNN, so check the output of the rendered page, to see what is happening. I recommend using developer toolbar (there is one for Firefox and one from MS for IE) to inspect the dom and all properties.

The css for a specifc skin should have the same name:

So if your skin is named 1-col.ascx, the a file called 1-col.css will get linked in automagically.

Oh, for the static xhtml you can also use a text/html module and set it to text mode (so the designer doesn't flub up your xhtml), then just paste it into the textbox and hit update.  Don't switch the designer on and hit update though, or ... well you probably know.

I tried this and it didn't work. I'll give the developer a try. In all honesty, I don't know DNN; I am a front-end developer that got locked into this and I'm lost beyond all means. If anyone wants to offer some one on one file inspection, that would be grand.
