Hello DNN Community!

I've been working on a DNN website for the last 3 days, trying to figure out all the features and options. It has been going nicely so far althought I am having trouble locating which template files I need to edit to add a custom "a href" link to the log in page at the bottom of my website, right next to the TOS and Privacy Statement links.

Does anyone have any idea where I can paste that "a href" line of code? I'm using a custom template but giving me some tips on how to do it on the default one will help me out as well. Thanks!

Hi,

You've got 2 options here I think:

1. Use the [LOGIN] SkinObject (take a look at the .ascx code in the MinimalExtropy skin files to get the registration code and the SkinObject code) and then set the login page in the Site Settings to your custom login page.

2.If you have the url of the page, add an <a href> link to the .ascx file for your skin as you would any other HTML link.

Regards,

Rick.

Hello!

The second option you have described sounds a lot better to me and I have tried it. Found the file, edited the code but nothing happened. Tried to changed the text on the existing links in footer (like Privacy for example) but nothing happened. Also tried to delete a chuck of code and nothing happened after I refreshed the website and emptied browser cache.

That brings me to my next question: Does DNN have some sort of caching system and how do I empty it after making such changes?

Thanks!

It sounds to me like you may be making changes to the wrong skin files, have a look in the source code of the page for the skin.css file, or the skinname.css file (where skinname is the name of the skin) and follow the location of this back to its root directory, is this the same as the one you're making changes to?

Regards,

Rick.

I have checked and found skin.css - added some new lines to it and it works. But, there is a problem when changing TermsOfUsePage.ascx ... I change the html of the footer, upload the file and the change does not happen. When I download the file in question from the server again, the changes are there - they just don't render in the brower. Been trying multiple browsers with reboots and cache cleaning but I still can't change the bottom Terms Of Use text that is linked to the TOS page.

Any ideas on why this might be? Thanks.
