Hi all,

Im working on a module that searches for and lists information about companies from a database. My client has expressed a desire to be able control the look of the module through skinning.

They woud like to be able to put placeholders in the html-skin (much like skin-objects), for example:

[SearchInstructions]

<br>

[SearchInput][SearchButton]

<br>

[SearchResultList]

It appears to me that a module is too complex to split into parts like that ? Is there a way to mark the ASP2.0-controls with tags ?

Anything to point me in the right directs would be much welcome !

Im running DNN 4.0.3 and developing in VS2005, ASP2.0

Thanks in advance !

Yes you can do this to a certain extent, since I'm not a developer and not 100% sure on the parameters of displaying search results on the same page - I think it's possible, but pages required refreshing to output the data in the same page.

Having said that,  I have worked with developers who have complex search function requirements and have worked closely with then during the development of the project and skinned their ascx files and css while the site is also being skinned.

I'm pretty sure this is possible by utilising the module.css functionality that's avaialable to you.

Thank you for your answer.

After rethinking my whole dilemma I think the core question is how I can make the ascx-control flexible. For now the asp2.0-controls are placed on it in flow layout from top to bottom: Text -> Input+Button -> Datalist for results.

The clients question now is:

"What if I want to rearrange the order? or put the Input and button on separate rows?"
